Nigeria's presidential elections held on April 16, 2011 which saw incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan declared as the winner.

This result did not go down well with the youths in the Northern part of the country who believed that the candidate from the region Muhammadu Buhari should have won.

The youths, thus, went into the streets to vent their anger and frustration. More than a 100 lives were lost in the wave of violence. Properties worth millions of Naira were also destroyed.
